RTE Supergarden 2015

It’s that time of the year again. The days are getting longer, gardens are starting to explode with colour, and RTE Supergarden is back on the television. The popular garden show which is in it’s seventh series and follows the journey of five amateur garden designers who have five weeks to create a garden for a real client with a budget of €5000. Competing for the winning garden, their aim

Chelsea in Bloom

A Gold medal winning installation for the Dubarry or Ireland brand at Chelsea in Bloom 2014 in London. The installation is about the story and the journey that the brand represents. The dreamy Irish landscapes and feeling at home in them. The feel of the colours blending together to create something wild, green and lush. The grasses, Iris and wild poppies are some plants that have inspired me to try

Kokedama

The art of Kokedama is a form of Bonsai and originated in Japan in the 1600’s. Originally the idea was to grow a plant in a pot until the roots were strong enough to display the plant in a hanging fashion, roots showing. The concept of creating a combination of suspended plants that together and each in itself creates its own little microcosm is fascinating and if you look up

Rose Cottage, Strandhill

One of my all time favourite cafes in the world is Shells Surfcafe in Sligo. Everything from the food to the atmosphere and the little shop -this place is always full of life and offers the best eggs Benedict I know.  After doing some designs for the garden of the cafe the owners Jane and Miles asked me to help design their interior and the garden of their newly bought cottage

GARDEN DESIGN | Cookie and Cream’s Reclaimed Sanctuary

Everyone needs a sanctuary The client was a family of four with two young teenage children who took part in RTÉ’s Super Garden in 2012. The family loved entertaining and wanted a space for dining and relaxing in the garden. They also had two beautiful rabbits, Cookie and Cream, who needed to be taken into consideration when thinking about the prospective space. The site used to be a meadow before

Primulas at Lissadell

Irish Independent Weekend Magazine | 7 March 2015 Finally the time of the year has come where small bits of colour start to show in the garden and our natural environment. Over the past few weeks I have watched with delight as pretty Snowdrop have scattered in white drifts through gardens and small early varieties of Iris and Muscari lend a hue of blue and purple to borders. On a
