What are the best gifts that you have received?  I always think that gift ideas based around quality, sustainability, delicious comfort and texture and thoughtful design are great ways of ensuring that a gift will truly be cherished. These kinds of gifts are timeless, support small, local or sustainable businesses and are gifts that people will cherish for many years to come. Especially if they grow!

Here are some wonderful last minute gift ideas which I have fallen for in the past while. Perfect for people who love wild, nature and timeless sustainable gifts.

Nature Artwork // I came across Anna-Marie O’Rourke at a market at the Drumhierney Woodland  Hideaway  in Leitrim recently (what a place btw!) and fell in love with her work. She an artist and maker from Leitrim and her work is rooted in the Leitrim landscape where she was born and raised. Her love of nature and drawing have been a constant inspiration throughout her life. Her botanical drawings and prints are studies of native wild plant specimens, often overlooked and underrated, growing throughout the changing seasons highlighting the importance of our local biodiversity. Her ‘AMOR Botanical Art’ a collection of original contemporary botanical artworks and limited-edition sustainable gifts are so intricate, delicate and beautiful. Gorgeous gifts for people who love nature.

Garden Overall // Abito

The Abito overall#1 is a relatively new product but one which is already quietly and elegantly taking the garden and florist world by storm. A product which has evolved over many years as a collaboration between two designers based in Ireland and Italy this incredible hard wearing overall is not just super useful for all your bits and bobs in the garden, it is also incredibly stylish. Available in denim, olive twill green, and Tobacco twill brown, the overall which is basically a versatile utility jacket with a gorgeous scalloped detail at the back…one you will never want to take off. The company also just preview launched a fabulous new bag (full launch in new year) called Tolfa and this is created in collaboration with a high quality leather company near Pisa. You can get a preview of this on the ABITO instagram page  @abito_ilive and there is a limited amount for order!
The Overall #1 is costed at €240 at

Dreamy Jewellery form nature // Martina Hamilton

Nature inspired jewellery is a wonderful way of bringing some wild into your every day. The west of Ireland jewellery designer and artist Martina Hamilton draws inspiration from the wild nature of the coastal landscape on the beautiful west coast of Ireland. I have a special love for Martina and all her work because I’ve known her for a long time and have witnessed all the care, dedication and authenticity that goes into the incredible jewellery that she creates. Her pieces are true works of art which are timeless and keepsakes for future generations.

Wild and beautiful Leitrim // Naomi Lee’s ‘Have a Look at Leitrim’ Book.

What better thing to buy someone than a book that links to nature? Naomi Lee’s book about Leitrim is a beautiful representation of the county and links to many unique locations and personalties. It is a wonderful mix of scenes and a fabulous coffee table book for anyone- specially those with links to Leitrim and the west of Ireland.

Beauty from the wild // Sealore Sea Radiance

This wonderful company hails from the wild west coast of Ireland – in fact from a sliver of coast which is in Leitrim. I have long been a fan of their products and first came across them a few years ago while I was doing and innovation course with enterprise Ireland. What stayed in my head and heart and why am I still a fan now is the dedication and quality of super high-end ingredients that Dolores and her daughter Nadine put into these creams and products. I have  been solid fan of their product and was delighted when they asked me to take part in some branding shoots for them.

The SeaRadiance cream is the most decadent three rose cream (wild-harvested organic rosehip seed oil, rose flower water and Bulgarian rose flower extract) which also has jasmine, skin-conditioning sandalwood and pro-aging Immortelle.

Gift the garden // vouchers

For last minute ideas when you’re running out of time a fab option is a voucher. Vouchers for growing is one fab option and the new 2024 dahlia range from Farmer Gracy is just out. I promise, a gift card from Farmer Gracy will make any garden lover in your life very happy indeed!

If you want to give people a gift voucher to an evening of designing their garden with me, my gift voucher is available to purchase on Eventbrite now. The evening workshop will be a fabulous time spent creating and dreaming with the goal of making your space a reality in 2024.

I’ve heard so many good things about this company and love the idea that ‘Human Collective’ want people to be comfortable wearing what they believe. Designed in Ireland by Conor Buckley, this soft organic cotton (GOTS)  clothing that features an equal “=” symbol on every item to signify the company (and wearer’s) support for racial, LGBTQI+ and opportunity equality.

They have the cutest gear for kids – gorgeous organic cotton soft jumpers and hoodies. My own favourite item is the incredibly soft fleece hoodie from the fabulous Rosanna Davison collection  but all the gear is stylish, simple and comfortable. Everyday staples which you can be proud to wear.

If you can’t decide what to get, you can also purchase vouchers on the site.
